The 3rd and 4th grade flag football team had their first game of the season last night. The kids arrived at the park, excited and ready to play. It was nice to see such enthusiasm and excitement. Once the game started, the team got serious and focused all their energy on playing the game of football.

The first half was our half; the team played very well and did a lot of good things. Noah Valencia, our quarterback, switched between the running and passing games with ease, and Jacob Weiss, Marquise Weathersby Holly, and Esau Zornoza all did great carrying the ball to get first downs. During one particular drive, Noah passed the ball to Esau for a touchdown pass. You can imagine how thrilled the team and their fans were!

The second half proved to be more challenging; Marquise had the ball and it seemed like we were close to scoring on a couple of downs but the other team prevented it from happening. The other team had bigger guys and scored two touchdowns, so we lost the game 12-6. But the team did really well for their first time, in spite of not having enough practice time before the first game. We were proud of how well his team did and we are looking forward to working with the team more during practices so that the players can continue to improve throughout the season.

Our next game is next Thursday, October 4, at 6:15 p.m. at Villegas Park near CSDR. Please come and support us! Thanks to all the parents and fans that came to support and cheer us on. And special thanks go to Amelia Zornoza, our team parent, who brought snacks and drinks and asked other parents to sign up for future drinks and snacks. Way to go, Cubs!
