The Arrowhead League recently held its Sportsmanship Summit with student-athletes discussing what they want to see as it relates to the behavior of the players, coaches and fans.
Boys Republic, Cal Lutheran, CSDR, La Sierra Academy, La Verne Lutheran, Sherman Indian and Upland Christian comprise the Arrowhead League. Their findings aren’t much different than one would expect from a bigger, public school league.
Student-athletes said the league should demonstrate a positive attitude on the courts and fields, exhibit good character; fans should be respectful and keep cheering positive; players control their words and temper, be humble and be respectful.
Actually, that’s not too much to ask. In fact, that should be the standard for all student-athletes and fans alike.
As for coaches, the players demanded much of the same. They asked coaches to pull out players who are acting unsportsmanlike and win or lose, should demonstrate good attitudes.
