CSD-Riverside Boys Basketball Wins BIG
Taking a look at the history between CSDR and La Sierra Academy in the past 10 years, LSA leads the series 17-3 and LSA won by an average of 9 points at our home court while winning by an average margin of 14 points on their home court. However, last night CSDR jumped out with a huge fire in their hearts and kicked the game off with a 10-0 run to help determine the game. LSA did come back with a 10-4 run at the end of the 1st quarter, but CSDR remained in the lead, 14-10.
In the second quarter, CSDR gained an even bigger lead after scoring 17 points, running up the score to 31-20 at halftime. During the 3rd quarter, we kept control of the game and continued to score. As a result, CSDR won a big league game with the score being 56-40.
With a field goal percentage of 50% (8 for 16), Noah Valencia had a great game from the field, also sinking 38% (3 for 8) of threes attempted.
Also helping the effort for CSD-Riverside Boys Basketball were Jacob Weiss (9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Nathaniel Humpal (8 points), Mavrick Fisher (8 points, 7 rebounds), Desean Welch (5 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Christian Jacobs (4 points, 4 rebounds) and Alan Alcocer (4 rebounds).
“Tonight our team was different, some players really stepped up in their own ways. It was a real pleasure to see the team win by 16. We never beat LA Sierra by 16 points in my entire coaching career. Hope we will bring that fire to the Clerc Classic coming up this weekend,” stated Coach Hamilton.
CSDR will travel to CSD-Fremont for the Clerc Classic tomorrow. CSDR will play against CSDF this Thursday, January 15, at 7:00 p.m.
