What a game! We almost beat Cal Lutheran when Sara Wnek’s shot inside three second area prior to time expiration missed and lost a heartbreaking game, 44-42. I am very proud of our team’s teamwork and tenacity. We competed very well and we showed we have faith in ourselves.

Cal Lutheran came in with 9-1 in league and in 1st place. They used 1-3-1 defense on us and it took awhile for us to figure it out and managed to keep Cal Lutheran’s lead by 8 at halftime when they led 22-14. In second half we utilized our fastbreak and with our adjusted offense scheme we rallied to take one point lead at end of 3rd period, 32-31. In fourth period they regained the lead by 8 points before we rallied again and cut down to two before we attempted the last shot at buzzer time.

Sara Wnek led with 18 points and Alexa Muller hauled down with 17 rebounds. Now we wait for Cal Lutheran’s game vs Sherman tomorrow. If Sherman loses we will be tied for second place. If Sherman wins we will be in third place. We have one more game to play tomorrow at La Sierra Academy and game time is 6 pm.
