Our boys sure impressed themselves on the field in the eyes of CSDR’s avid fans as they watched last Thursday’s game versus Reid Park. Our boys played very well in both offense/defense and not only that, they also did well on special team, too.
In the first quarter, we moved the ball very well with all kinds of plays- most of the players had a chance to carry the ball. We moved the ball all the way to just 10 yards shy of a touchdown. However, we fumbled on 4th down. This happened twice during the game.
We designated different players to be the running back to run in the middle (find a gap) but the other team just read us very well so we didn’t have a chance to make a touchdown. Bailey Chmaj, Marquise Weathersby, and Dawsen Bashaw played very well on defense; the other team could not move the ball outside of 15 yards and they didn’t punt so we had our ball again with 15 yards to go to a touchdown. We were in the red zone with 5 yards to go for a touchdown, but time ran out so we were scoreless in the first half. During the third quarter, we moved the ball very well, with Esau Zorona running 25 yards and then Noah Valencia running 70 yards. Then our quarterback Noah had his first interception after moving the ball 95 yards. The interception return gave Reid Park a 6-0 lead. Reid added 2 points to make it 8-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Our boys did not give up and fought back to accomplish with the help of Marquise Weathersby with his running of 10 yards and he made the first touchdown for CSDR. Then Noah added two points by scoring an extra touchdown (PAT) to tie the game, 8-8. Both teams’ avid fans sat on the edge of their seats, chanting for both sides. In the 4th quarter, Reid Park made another big play by running and scoring a touchdown to lead the game 16-8. Our boys only had 1:13 remaining to get the game tied again. Unfortunately, we did not make another touchdown before time expired. It was a worthy lesson for our boys to experience this kind of game situation.
