Greeting CSD-Riverside Community,

We are thrilled to announce that our wrestlers battled hard against several schools at Jeff Forham Memorial Wrestling Tournament at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano. There were ten different schools at the tournament and we wrestled against five schools and the wrestling team came in fourth place at the tournament.

First round, we wrestled against Trinity Classical Academy (Santa Clarita) and we won, 69-12.
Javier Rodriguez (108lbs) pinned his opponent (1:11).
Jose Garcia (115lbs) pinned his opponent (1:30).
Albert Corona (128Lbs) won by decision, 8-4.
Rogelio Maciel (154lbs) pinned his opponent (5:36)

Second round, bye round.

Third round, we wrestled against Sonora, we won by close call, 39-36.
Wayne Aguirre (140lbs) won by decision, 7-6.
Rogelio Macial (154lbs) won by default during second period.
Joel Ramos (220lbs) pinned his opponent (2:55).
Hiroshi Nakama (HWT/285lbs) pinned his opponent (0:47).

Fourth round, we wrestled against Tesoro (Rancho Santa Margarita) and we lost, 30-45.
Albert Corona (122lbs) pinned his opponent (0:24).
Rogelio Maciel (154lbs) pinned his opponent (3:32).
Giovanni Sanchez (184lbs) pinned his opponent (0:41).
Joel Ramos (220lbs) pinned his opponent (0:47).
Hiroshi Nakama (HWT/285lbs) pinned his opponent (0:37).

Fifth round, we wrestled against Webb (Claremont) and we won 40-39.
Albert Corona (122lbs) pinned his opponent (0:34).
Rogelio Maciel (154lbs) won by decision (11-0).

So, with our first five rounds, we entered and wrestled for 3rd place, unfortunately, we lost and placed in 4th (out of ten teams).
For the 3rd place, we wrestled against San Clemente High School and we lost, 21-52.
Eduardo Bojorquez (137lbs) pinned his opponent (2:55).
Rogelio Maciel (154lbs) won by decision (9-2)
Joel Ramos (220lbs) pinned his opponent (0:14).
Hiroshi Nakama (HWT/285lbs) pinned his opponent (0:22).
San Clemente has three wrestlers who are ranked in the top ten for Orange County.

We are proud of our wrestlers who fought and we’ve built our reputation during the tournament. Many coaches, fans and referees kept stating that they were impressed with us and our team’s performance. But we know that we can do better and we will not stop improving!
