Emma Salazar
Carter Paysigner (CIF-SS President), Jim Monico (CIF-SS Past-President), Emma Salazar and Jim Staunton (Founder of Champions for Character)

On behalf of the Athletics Department, it is with pride that we congratulate Emma Salazar on being a recipient of the 2015-2016 CIF Southern Section Champions for Character for her display of character in which she received an exquisite banner, certificate, patch, plaque, and a check in the amount of $1,000.

As you know, Emma represents our school very well as she plays three sports: Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field. She is able to juggle all of her responsibilities while maintaining good grades in her courses at CSDR. Her work ethic in classrooms and in various organizations/extracurricular activities is evident throughout the entire school year. She adheres to the CIF Athlete Code of Ethics which builds intellectual, social, and moral well-being for all of her peers. She also exhibits all of the 6 Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship on a daily basis. Emma is an excellent role model for her peers at CSDR and she does with grace and humility.

The banner will be displayed in the MAC and in our new gymnasium until Emma graduates from CSDR. The banner is a great example that every student athlete is encouraged to live the 6 Pillars of Character on a daily basis on the court and off the court.
