CSD-Riverside Boys Basketball Falls To Fremont

Within the first few opening minutes, Fremont took the lead with a 4-0 run. Our Riverside boys kept their poise and came back to make it 4-4. Fremont then went on another 6-0 run. At the end of first quarter Fremont led 13-9. Fremont expanded its lead to 17-9. Riverside drew several fouls and caused Fremont’s key player to get into foul trouble; however their other players stepped up and went on yet another 15-0 run. By halftime the Eagles led 30-17.

Despite a strong finish, with 12 points in the final quarter, CSD-Riverside Boys Basketball failed to secure the win, the score being 53-36.

Valencia was the scoring leader for Riverside with 14 points, including four during the fourth period. He also contributed 11 rebounds, six steals and two blocks. He was below his average.

Also contributing for Riverside were Christian Jacobs (7 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Alan Alcocer (7 points, 2 rebounds), Mavrick Fisher (4 points, 7 rebounds) and Jacob Weiss (4 points, 2 steals).

“We played great until those 3 minutes out of the entire game, so we lost the game. Also, they just outrebounded us 44-29, and our three points range wasn’t there. Tonight we couldn’t buy the three points basket, making only 9 percent of the shots,” stated the coaching staff.

CSDR played against Phoenix Day School for the Deaf for 7/8th place in the early morning against Coach Hamilton’s former player. PDSD’s head coach used to play for Coach Hamilton.
In the first quarter, CSDR struggled with their offense; however their defense helped give CSDR a big lead, 13-4. CSD-Riverside Boys Basketball continued to lead after a 20-point second quarter, running up the score to 33-9 by halftime.
CSDR was victorious over Phoenix Day School for the Deaf at the end, 67-26.
Alan Alcocer put two three-pointers on the board and scored six points total. Noah Valencia scored 25 points. Christian Jacobs went into double digits, scoring 12 points (4-for-9). Also contributing for CSDR were Nathaniel Humpal (8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks), Mavrick Fisher (6 points, 8 rebounds), Jacob Weiss (6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals), Adonis Tauvalaau (2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals) and Desean Welch (2 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 blocks).
