Hello CSD-Riverside Community,

The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Aurora Frias and Rogelio Maciel have been selected as Female and Male Student Athletes of the Month for the month of September. Here are some comments from their head coaches:

Aurora has been involved with the Cheer team since her freshman year in High School. This is her second year on the Varsity team, and she is currently our team captain. I could not be more pleased with the progress Aurora has made over the years! Aurora has recently blossomed into an outstanding student-athlete. In the past, she struggled with balancing school work and team commitments. This year, she is keeping her GPA up, while taking on a full class schedule including Advanced Placement (AP) English and Literature courses. Her leadership skills during cheer practice are impressive: she has endless patience working with our Special Needs members, helping them to improve their skills; at the same time, challenging and encouraging our other members to perform at their best. Aurora is a wonderful performer and positively supports both our Volleyball and Football teams equally; regardless, if we are winning or losing. Her Cub-spirit is addictive! She is truly a pleasure to have on the Cheer team, and a fantastic role model for all of CSD-Riverside.

Rogelio Maciel is a football player who also is a gentleman. He met the 4-H mission that is the staple of our football program. He exhibits heart during practices and games. He honors his coaches and his teammates as well as his teachers and the community. He hustles every time at practices and games. He shows hunger in improving himself, helping his teammates get better, and playing his best every time.
