I could not be more proud of the CSD-Riverside Cheer team! The competition this year was fierce, but they came away with a 3rd place finish beating out Maryland by just one point, and missing second place by only a few points. Almost every member was nursing an injury, and three members have never performed in a competition before. However, that did not stop them from doing the best they could and representing our school extremely well. The spirit they exhibited during all of the basketball games was a joy to behold; regardless if our boys or girls teams were winning or losing.

I am saddened by the fact that all but one member are seniors and I won’t have the opportunity to work with them again. I do know that if those seniors work as hard in their future endeavors as they did at the Clerc competition, they will all be very successful adults. They are wonderful CSD-R role models.

In addition, I want to congratulate Dominic Cade-Brown and Jeanyssa Caboteja for being selected to the All-Star Cheer team. Their spirit and leadership were essential for our new members and helped keep the team motivated the whole tournament. I am so happy the other cheer coaches recognized what I have known all along: We have amazing student-athletes!

It was truly a pleasure to work with the 2014 team members. Please congratulate them on their wonderful job being representatives for our school! They really do bleed Riverside Red!
Go Cubs!
